Phone stories: If you wait

I’m sitting outside a bar in Stavanger, Norway right now, the sun is shining on my face and on the pink, blue and orange houses across the street. A delicious craft beer is fuelling my creativity (such a cliché travel blogger moment) and boy, apparently it has been three months since I last said hi on here. Wait, what? Yeah, and I absolutely can’t promise it won’t happen again. Somebody evidently took a bit of a break from blogging and tried to get out of their Berlin media bubble. I stayed offline whenever work allowed me to (thanks work!), went on tons of crazy adventures that could and perhaps will one day fill entire books. Of course I never stayed off Instagram for that long. So, here’s a long overdue selection of snaps from November until April.

My phone tells stories: This is water

I’m travelling to Curacao and Japan this month (eeeeek!) and also find myself (and about five different notebooks) in the middle of two very exciting and intense projects, so my mind has already forgotten about anything that happened between August and September. Luckily dat ol’ iPhone’s photo roll hasn’t. Here are a couple of snaps from Austria (Alps), Bavaria, Austria again (Carinthia), England and mild summer days in Berlin. Also, I’d actually like to show you extracts from David Foster Wallace’s speech “This is Water” which has inspired me in so many ways recently. Here is the full piece.

My phone tells stories: Winter magic

Boom, it’s nearly March! And March means it can’t be long til summer. Take note, Berlin skies! The last couple of months somehow managed to be the close-to-perfect mix of work and play, action and chill, dance moves and naps and home and travel on a silver plate. Yeah, that’s a first, I know. I was with my parents over Christmas, took long walks with the dog around Laacher See lake (which I just read a rather interesting article on by accident, not sure my parents are aware of that “imminent danger”), was offline in Norway, worked non-stop in January, got lost and found in Istanbul (and then again, and again) and drove a car again alongside Portugal‘s coast after a very long time (and then got pulled over by the police with Paul Kalkbrenner in full blast, rockstar game strong).

My phone tells stories: November sun and slow afternoons

Hey fluffy dogs. Hey lazy weekends. Hey colours. Hey autumn. Hey Germany. The last few weeks of this year have been (and are) filled with sleepy Saturdays and cosy jumpers whenever possible. One of the nicest trips has been exploring the Sächsische Schweiz area (which translates to something weird like Saxon Switzerland apparently) which is three hours south of Berlin and oh so beautiful. We went hiking, breathed in some fresh mountain air, jumped through the woods and tried very hard not to fall off the – very Instagrammable – rocks. Mission accomplished I’d say.

My phone tells stories: We all walk this earth feeling like frauds

2015, you have been one crazy, crazy year. And you still are, in fact. I feel like I only manage to get hold of very few of the colourful balloons that swirling over my head and over Berlin… Here are some of the faces, flowers and city lights from summer that made a lasting impression on my phone.
