You probably know how ‘proper’ photographers look at you when you answer “flowers” when asked what your favorite motives are. Agreed, it really is quite a sad favorite motive, but taking photos of tulips and roses in your granny’s garden is a good way to get into the habit of hardcore action street style photography… Ha!
Anyway, the reason I’m talking about ridiculous techniques and gardens is that I’ve finally visited the Columbia Road Flower Market – between Hackney Road and Bethnal Green Road – and marvelled at all the different floral impressions and the local atmosphere of the market.
Three hours of constant snapping did eventually lead to a few decent street photographs which I will show you in the next few days. The market is surrounded by all a bunch of the usual Hackney/Hoxton cafés – so why not have a late brunch on Sunday and then stroll over Columbia Rd and personalise your London home a little? Prices get lower at around 3pm.
But … please don’t judge me for writing a whole blog post on flowers – who could resist this colorful vibrance on a grey Sunday in February? See!
